If they want to buy any local memorabilia, let them do it on their own time. Completely ruined the rest of the tour.Īdvice for the tour operator: remove the upselling part of the tour. Going back to the local vendor story, she proceeded to not only overcharge me 300 quetzales for 4 knickknacks but made me feel terrible for not having enough and then told me I should go to the ATM to get more cash. Shuttle Schedule: GUA to Antigua & Panajachel, Lake Atitlan. I didn't need to pay additional expenses or made feel less than because I didn't wanna partake in it. 2 PAX - GUA to Antigua: 50) We will get back to you with prices for other routes and private vans. On the Honduras side, you go into (a much nicer) border control office where you need to pay 5 (or 40Q aprox) and get an entry stamp. Listen, I love to support the local community but I had already paid my ticket. You will need to get off the minibus and get your passport stamped on the Guatemalan side then walk across the border to Honduras.
I came into this tour with the intention of learning about the town not to be upsold.
However-As much I appreciated being introduced to a local vendor at the park via my tour guide, I didn't appreciate how I was made to feel by the vendor because I only had 150 Quetzales with me at the time. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and was warm. I truly enjoyed the historical background offered and learning more about this gorgeous town.
